Trump Signs 3 Executive Orders, Includes Order For Plan To Defeat ISIS

trump executive order signing

On Saturday President Trump kept his high velocity administration on pace with the signing of three more executive orders. In signing the first, President Trump said, with a touch of humor, “So this is a five year lobbying ban and this is all of the people standing behind me will not be able to go to work or do anything adverse to our wonderful country.”

He pauses and adds, “Okay, five year ban. It’s a two year ban now and it’s got, full of loopholes. This is a five year ban.” He offers his staff one last chance to bail before he signs it, with no takers. President Trump says, “This was something, the five year ban, that I’ve been talking about a lot on the campaign trail and we are now putting it into effect.”

Taking the second document from his Chief of Staff, Reince Priebus, Trump says, “This is the organization of the National Security Council and the Homeland Security Council.” He says to the reporters in attendance, “You know pretty much what it represents, it represents a lot. And also a lot of efficiency and I think a lot of additional safety.

Taking the third executive order, President Trump announces, “This is the plan to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, in other words, ISIS. I think it’s going to be very successful.

He takes one question from the assembled reporters, asked about the executive orders of the previous day. The voices are difficult to understand for the first portion of the question, with Mr. Trump stating in response, ‘Totally, Totally, It’s not a Muslim ban but we’re totally prepared. It’s working out very nicely. You see it at the airports, you see it all over. It’s working out very nicely and we’re going to have a very, very strict ban and we’re going to have extreme vetting.”
