Have a seat, Hillary, and pour yourself a stiff one, Trump and Putin could be at it again. Democrats and war-mongering RINOs like McCain and Graham are going to really hate hearing this.
The Hill and the UK’s Sunday Times are reporting that Mr. Trump’s first foreign trip as president will be a meeting with Vladimir Putin. They report that Mr. Trump and his team informed British officials that his first foreign trip would be a summit in Iceland with President Putin, within weeks of his inauguration.
They noted the similarity to President Reagan’s Cold War visit to meet with Mikhail Gorbachev in Reykjavik, Iceland shortly after he was sworn in. The Sunday Times also quoted their sources as having stated that officials at the Russian embassy in London say Moscow is set to agree to a summit between the two leaders.

Perhaps an indicator that this was a premature leak, that they’re not to the point of being ready for it to be made public, or that the report could be erroneous, Mr. Trump’s press secretary, Sean Spicer, tweeted, “not true – report is 100% false,” although Mr. Trump has previously been open to the idea and having a solid relationship with Russia would enhance his bargaining positions and stature with China and other adversaries. Lying has become a tradition for Press Secretaries, particularly of late.
It’s very likely that Trump and Putin will meet early, although the feeling may be that in light of the current Democrat-created hysteria over anything having to do with Russia, it might be more prudent to wait to make an announcement.
They reported that Mr. Trump is interested in discussing nuclear disarmament or reductions, and preferred a neutral location outside of Russia, with Reykjavik being a likely choice, although officials in Iceland state they have not received any formal contact. No revelation was made as to why the British were informed and what role, if any, they played in the arrangements.
Whether this specific report proves to be accurate or not, it’s likely that a face to face meeting between the two leaders will come early in the Trump administration. There’s a lot of Obama baggage to be disposed of and a lot of repair work that needs to be done. The sooner they get started the better.
