In an appearance at CPAC, Senator Ted Cruz observed, “Right now Democrat Senators are more scared of their base than they are of the voters. A liberal Democrat told me a couple of weeks ago, said, ‘Listen, we’re afraid of being primaried.’ The Democrats took as the lesson of this election that Hillary was too moderate.”
He notes their response to the defeat, saying, “And so their lesson is they need more Bernie Sanders, more Elizabeth Warren, that’s where Senate Democrats are. The crowd responds to the mention of those two with a solid round of negative universal disdain and murmurs.
Cruz says, “What that means is I think it is likely they will continue to oppose everything. Now that means for us the answer can’t be okay, then they shut down the Congress, they prevent us from doing anything. So we need to look at tools that can get things done despite a Democrat filibuster and there are three main tools.”
Cruz says, “First is confirmation,” and takes a moment for a personal message to his former Senate adversary, Democrat Harry Reid. He raises his water bottle in a toast to the former Majority Leader, saying “Because Harry Reid employed the so-called nuclear option, broke the Senate rules to change the Senate rules, lowered the threshold for confirmation from sixty votes to fifty-one. And it is a direct result of Harry Reid that we now have the most conservative cabinet in decades.”
He continues, saying, “And so if I can be a little presumptuous, Mark, let me on behalf of CPAC thank Harry Reid. Harry Reid, thank you for Attorney General Jeff Sessions. And also we should be thanking Harry Reid for EPA administrator Scott Pruitt, for Education Secretary Betsy Devos, and very, very soon I look forward to thanking Harry Reid for Supreme Court Justice Gorsuch.
Thank you for reading and sharing my work – Facebook is trying to starve us out of existence, having cut literally 98% of our traffic over the last year. Your shares are crucial for our survival, and we thank you. We’ve also created a presence on Gab.ai and MeWe.com, although their reach is presently much smaller, the continued abuse by Facebook of conservative voices leaves us no option. We’re remaining on Facebook for the time being, as we make the transition. Please take a look when you have a chance or if we “suddenly disappear” from Facebook as has happened to many other truth-tellers. They’ll either starve us out or take us down, one way or another, sooner or later.
