Seattle’s Democrat Mayor, Ed Murray, has been struggling to hang onto his position following a surge of accusations by men who say that they have been molested by him. Four men had come forward since April claiming to have been sexually abused.
Murray lost his battle when a fifth man, his younger cousin, came forward on Tuesday with similar accusations. It was then just a matter of hours before he announced his resignation, effective Wednesday at 5 pm.
In making his announcement, Murray continued to maintain his innocence, saying, “While the allegations against me are not true, it is important that my personal issues do not affect the ability of our City government to conduct the public’s business.” He offered no explanation for the unfolding conspiracy against him.
The initial complaint, leveled in April, came from a man who claimed he was raped by Murray repeatedly over the course of several years, beginning in 1986, when he was just 15 years old. In the ensuing months three others had come forward with similar claims.
Murray had already given up on the idea of being reelected after the fourth victim came forward in May but he had hoped to serve out his term. Bill Clinton got away with it, Murray’s a Democrat, why shouldn’t he? In announcing his decision to not seek reelection the mayor said, in a typical overly dramatic sentiment, “It tears me to pieces to step away.”
That’s something those boys might have said to you, eh Ed? The fifth and deciding accusation that drove him from office came from Joseph Dyer. Murray lived with his family when he was a boy in the late 1970s.
Dyer, now age 54, said the abuse took place when he was just thirteen and shared a bedroom with his cousin. Dyer said, “There would be times when I would fake sleeping because I didn’t want him touching me. And that’s when he would molest me.”
Dyer said his abuse ended when a boy at a Catholic group home where Murray worked also accused him of abuse. According to Dyer, Murray’s father made a deal in which the group home would sweep the incident under the rug provided Murray moved on to another town and never returned.
Maybe that’s what he’ll do this time. Move on to another libtard Washington town where they view him as normal, or a warrior for social justice or some other nonsensical rationalization for perverse, inexcusable behavior. Maybe Olympia; we here the State Attorney General is a great guy.
