Sanders informs the reluctant press that nothing in the Manafort indictment or Papadopoulos statements involve the campaign. It’s from before the campaign existed…
Sarah Sanders reaffirms that the administration has “no intention or plan to make any changes in regard to the special counsel,” and reminds reporters that “today’s announcement has nothing to do with the President, has nothing to do with the President’s campaign or campaign activity.”
She reminds reporters that “The real collusion scandal, as we’ve said several times before, has everything to do with the Clinton campaign, Fusion GPS and Russia. There’s clear evidence of the Clinton campaign colluding with Russian Intelligence to spread disinformation and smear the President to influence the election.”
Sanders notes, “We’ve been saying from day one there’s been no evidence of Trump – Russia collusion and nothing in the indictment today changes that at all.”
She mixes it up with the press a bit, saying of the Manafort indictment, “It has nothing to do with the activities of the campaign it has to do with his failure to tell the truth. That doesn’t have anything to do with the campaign or the campaign’s activities.”
One of the reporters replies, “But it is the clearest evidence yet of ties between the Trump campaign and Russian officials.” Sanders reiterates, “Again, there are no activities or official activity in which the Trump campaign was engaged in any of these activities. Most of them took place well before the campaign even existed.”
That is a testament to the fact that Mueller is conducting a witch hunt with a predetermined guilty verdict in search of a crime. The only indictments are for activity not related to the campaign and at a time before the campaign existed, yet this is supposedly and investigation into campaign collusion.
Sanders moves on to the topic of George Papadopoulos and his previously unknown plea of guilty to what also appears to be manipulation by federal agents in order to gain an accomplice that perhaps wore a wire at some point in time.
She says his involvement in the campaign “was extremely limited. It was a volunteer position and again, no activity was ever done in an official capacity on behalf of the campaign in that regard either.” Fox News’ John Roberts asks, “What about the outreach to the campaign officials?” She replies, “The outreach that was repeatedly denied and pushed away and said ‘we’re not going to take any action on that?'”
Asked to explain what happened, Sanders replied, “He reached out and nothing happened beyond that, which I think shows, one, his level of importance in the campaign and two shows what little role he had within coordinating anything officially for the campaign.” She goes on to further elaborate as to how irrelevant he was. She also affirms that they still expect the Mueller farce to wrap up soon.
