The NBC reporter calls it a fascinating story that Natalia Veselnitskaya is telling, incredible may be closer to the truth. He relays her account of the events, saying she received a phone call from a man she didn’t know and was told to come to Trump Tower to meet with the Trump campaign.
This, we are supposed to believe happened out of the blue and a woman, who was familiar with Russian ways, which include elimination, did as she was instructed. There was no question as to how they got her number, knew who she was or anything like that. No question as to why she was still in the United States when her immigration parole arranged by Loretta Lynch expired in January.
There’s also no accounting for the contradiction between her story and the email copies released by Don Jr. which show advance planning from the week prior and claims that she was in Moscow. How would someone who couldn’t qualify for a visa the first time receive one to meet with a candidate’s son?” Indications are, from her busy schedule in the US and a lack of any documentation showing her travel out of the country or a return that she’s a visa overstay.
So either she was lying to the Trump intermediary, Rob Goldstone, or he, likely both of them, were lying to the Trump team. The reporter states that she says the Trump contacts wanted information on the Clinton campaign, information she says she didn’t have.
That would be more odd assumptions on the part of the Trump team, if true, to call a random stranger, invite her to a meeting without any indication in advance that she had something they wanted? Either she or NBC Fake News is obviously lying, probably both.
As a lawyer you would expect Natalia Veselnitskaya knows how to answer a question, yet the first thing out of her mouth in this interview, as it is presented, is to ignore the question and tell her story, which has some contradictions with what was presented in the email chain by Donald Trump Jr.
The first question, “What was the purpose of that meeting?” is met with a response of “I never knew who else would be attending the meeting. All I knew was that Mr. Donald Trump Jr. was willing to meet with me.” That’s not what he asked, maybe she doesn’t want to admit the purpose was to set up Trump for future exploitation should he happen to win the election.
She describes an awkward process with these business professionals that involved no introductions, a very odd way to hold a meeting, but that she now recognizes both Kushner and Manafort. She describes Jared Kushner as a young gentleman who was in the meeting for 7 to 10 minutes before he stood up and left the room. Paul Manafort “was always looking at his phone, he was reading something. He never took any active part in the conversation.”
The reporter asks, “They had the impression, it appears, that they were going to be told some information that you had about the DNC, how did they get that impression?” The completely unbelievable response from Veselnitskaya is “It’s quite possible that maybe they were looking for such information, they wanted it so badly.” Right, that random phone call to an anonymous individual they picked out of the phone book for her Russian sounding name just had to pay off for them. This woman, aside from all of her other activities that scream liar, has no credibility just in her account of the event.
