Judge Roy Moore and his supporters maintain his innocence as the claims of his accusers continue to unravel under scrutiny. They held a press briefing to reveal…
Judge Roy Moore’s campaign came out in his defense on Tuesday, with strong statements of his character as well as new information regarding the accusers and their unraveling claims. Ben DuPre, Moore’s former chief of staff on the Alabama Supreme Court, reasserted Moore’s innocence.
He expressed their determination to see the Moore campaign through to victory and to clear his good name as well. DuPre explained they’re standing by him “not because he’s guilty as charged and we’re going to stand by our man anyway, but because we don’t believe a word of these lies against him and we know them to be false.”
DuPre tells the reporters gathered, “We’re here today to do the job for the press, to ask some questions, to offer some suggestions and some new evidence. The lies and character assassination of Judge Roy Moore ends today.”
Regarding accuser Leigh Corfman, they continue to maintain that Judge Moore has never known her. DuPre notes that it’s interesting that her story has been told only in the vaguest of terms without any investigation by the media, “So we have done some basic research and offer the following for consideration.”
He reveals evidence that the court hearing that Corfman stated she was attending with her mother was not a custody battle over who gets to have her but a transfer of custody from the mother to the father because she was a disciplinary problem. DuPre has a copy of a court record of a hearing in February of 1979 in which a judge signed an order honoring the request by both parents that she be transferred from the custody of her mother to her father.
He also points out that the supposed pick up place where she claims she would meet Moore was almost a mile away from her mother’s house and would have required her to cross a major thoroughfare. Why would they not have met at a point where she didn’t have to walk a mile? Of course they would have, if it actually happened.
DuPre notes as well that Corfman’s father lived in a different Alabama city at the time of these supposed events. With custody already transferred to her father per the court document DuPre presented, one has to wonder how it is that she was at her mother’s home for the alleged mile away “around the corner” pickup calls to be taken on the nonexistent phone in her bedroom?
Mitch McConnell or the Dems have a lot of explaining to do to sell their rapidly unraveling false narratives.
