The injuries suffered by Senator Rand Paul are worse than we were originally led to believe. After testing the truth has been revealed that he sustained five broken ribs during the sneak attack from behind by his Democrat neighbor as he was mowing his lawn.
Three of the five broken ribs are displaced fractures. Doug Stafford, Senior Adviser for Senator Paul said it’s not known when he’ll be able to return to work, that he’s in “considerable pain.” He has difficulty getting around and sleeping and is in no condition to travel at this point. Even breathing can be painful and difficult.
Stafford noted that injuries of this type typically involve a prolonged period of intense pain that can last for weeks or months. In a statement to Fox News, Stafford said, “This type of injury is caused by high velocity severe force.” As anyone who’s ever pushed a power mower knows, the sound drowns out everything else so, Senator Paul had no opportunity to brace himself for the hit and had no idea it was coming.
According to reports in the Bowling Green Daily News, the statement Paul gave on the arrest warrant stated that he was mowing his lawn when his neighbor came onto his property, charged at him and tackled him from behind. He stated at that time that he was having difficulty breathing due to his injuries.
The assailant, Rene Boucher, 59, is Senator Paul’s next door neighbor. He was arrested on Saturday and charged with misdemeanor fourth-degree assault with a minor injury. He was later released that same day on a $7,500 bond and is scheduled for court on Thursday.
Stafford’s statement explained the serious nature of Senator Paul’s injuries, “Displaced rib fractures can lead to life-threatening injuries such as: hemopneumothorax, pneumothorax, pneumonia, internal bleeding, laceration of internal organs and lung contusions. Senator Paul does have lung contusions currently.”
Ironically pain is Boucher’s medical practice, in addition to a hobby practiced on his neighbors. He’s an anesthesiologist and a pain specialist as well as the inventor of a pain relief device.
Kentucky State Police Master Trooper Jeremy Hodges said the FBI is investigating to determine whether or not the attack was political in nature. FBI spokesman David Habich stated that the FBI is “working with our state and local partners to determine if there was a violation of federal law.”
Jim Skaggs, a Kentucky State Republican Party executive committee member also lives in the neighborhood and knows both men. He said, “They were as far left and right as you can be. We had heard of no friction whatsoever other than they just were [held a] difference of political opinion.”
He said both men walked their little dogs at about a mile and a half circle, a nice little dog trot. I’d see them out walking, maybe they might stop and speak with each other.”
In addition to the considerable amount of pain Senator Paul will be suffering, and the threat of missing votes in the Senate, there won’t be any golf trips with President Trump in the near future. Even riding in the cart would likely be more than he can handle for a long time and swinging a club could be months away.
Who knew Senator Paul mowed his own grass. If he were a Democrat or RINO he’d just pay an illegal under the table.
