Chris Wallace opens his interview with Reince Priebus with a discussion of the Circa News report that a Russian attorney met with Donald Trump Jr, Kushner and Manafort in Trump Tower for unknown reasons.
Priebus contends it was a twenty minute meeting that turned out to have nowhere to go, supposedly under the pretext of an adoption policy reform, and it was soon over. He notes that Circa has uncovered a connection to the group behind Clinton contractor for opposition research on President Trump, who was behind the Steele dossier, Fusion GPS.
It’s likely there is more to be discovered and that it “may spin out of control for the DNC and the Democrats. The topic shifts to the G20 meeting between Presidents Trump and Putin and the comments by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that President Trump accepted Putin’s assertions that they had not interfered and that Trump had said, “Certain circles in the US are still exaggerating, although they cannot prove this, the topic of Russia’s interference with the US election.”
Priebus says it’s not true that President Trump said those things, saying, “The President absolutely did not believe the denial of President Putin. What the President did is he immediately came into the meeting, talked about Russian meddling in the US election, went after that issue at least two separate times.
He says, “This was not just a five minute piece of the conversation. This was an extensive portion of the meeting. And after going after it with President Putin more than once, two times, maybe even three times,” after which they moved on to other topics.
Wallace calls Assad the “Butcher of Baghdad” in his questioning of Priebus, apparently getting him confused with Saddam Hussein. They again fail to note that Assad protects Christians, Jews and non-jihadi Muslims from the terrorists inside his country when labeling him. Then again, what do leftist TV talking heads care about what happens to Christians?
We’re excluding them from the refugee ranks when they should be at the top – Wallace hasn’t voiced any similar problem with that. Wallace portrays President Trump, being one against nineteen, as being an earth-hater, apparently still never having read the Paris accord and taking it as a climate deal. Maybe someday he’ll find the time and then he’ll realize he’s been making all the wrong arguments.
Priebus tries, to a degree to incorporate that into his response, saying of Trump, “You have a President who doesn’t just show up at the G20 and sink into his chair and just suddenly agree with all of these European leaders across the table when it comes to issues that he disagrees on. The President’s made it very clear that he doesn’t believe the Paris agreement is fair.”
