Noor Salman, the wife of Orlando nightclub terrorist Omar Mateen, was arrested by the FBI on Monday. She was charged with obstruction and giving support to a terrorist organization. She was arrested in California, where she now lives with her family. The case was filed in Florida, the site of the June massacre by her husband, who swore allegiance to ISIS as he murdered 48 innocent people at the Pulse nightclub.
Her attorney, Linda Moreno, contends that she had no advance knowledge of her husband’s plans. She issued a statement saying, “Noor has told her story of abuse at his hands. We believe it is misguided and wrong to prosecute her and that it dishonors the memories of the victims to punish an innocent person.” If she were innocent Moreno might have a point, but she may be guilty.
Salman was with her husband when he bought the ammo and texted with him during the attack. She is scheduled to appear in court in Santa Rita, CA on Tuesday where a decision will be made as to whether to return her to Orlando.
Loretta Lynch patted herself on the back on MSNBC, saying, “We said from the beginning we were going to look at every aspect of this case, every aspect of this shooter’s life — to determine not just why did he take these actions, but who else knew about them, was anyone else involved, is there any other accountability that needs to be had here in this case.”
Orlando Police Chief John Mina tweeted the specific charges — obstruction of justice and aiding and abetting by providing material support to a terrorist organization. He added, “Nothing can erase the pain we all feel about the senseless and brutal murders of 49 of our neighbors, friends, family members and loved ones. But today, there is some relief in knowing that someone will be held accountable for that horrific crime.”
In November Salman started laying the foundation for her defense in an interview with the New York Times. She said she met her husband, the son of immigrants from Afghanistan, on an Arab dating site. He began beating her six months into their marriage, so she’s a victim too.
She acknowledges that she was with him when he bought the ammo at Wal-Mart and when he scouted the club in Orlando, but told the paper, “I was unaware of everything.” She couldn’t ask what he was buying all the ammo for, even though it could have been intended for her when the excitement of wife beating just didn’t satisfy him anymore.
Salman told NBC News that she didn’t know where her terrorist husband was on the night of the attack, claiming she assumed he was out with a friend until 2am when his mother called her to ask his whereabouts. Why would the mother call in the middle of the night to ask the whereabouts of her son, potentially waking him and his family at 2am? Did she have reason to suspect that Mateen was behind the incident that was unfolding or did she know about it ahead of time as well?
Salman said she told the mother she didn’t know her husband’s whereabouts and then texted him, asking, “Where are you?”
According to NBC reports, Mateen responded: “Do you see what’s happening?” with her replying “No” and him following that up with “I love you, babe.” How romantic, there’s nothing that says “I love you” like the senseless murder of dozens of people.
It’s also interesting, in the world of setup, fake news establishment media outlets, that this anchor had the Attorney General on camera, but had to rely on the happenstance of “being handed some breaking news” to inform the public of the Salman arrest. We’re supposed to believe that if the handoff had taken place just one minute later Lynch would have said goodbye without mentioning the arrest herself? Of course it was scripted and staged. How obvious can these people be? How stupid do they think the American people are?
