As if we needed any more proof that liberals really are mentally defective and lacking in the ability to reason coherently, a condition that they exhibit regardless of their intellect or level of education, MIT professor and Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber made an appearance on the Fox News Sunday program and hacked out some really incredible mental phlegm balls across America’s airwaves.
Chris Wallace informed the caustic Gruber of some realities, that premiums for Obamacare went up an average of 24% this year and that the average number of insurers in each market dropped from 5.9 down to 3.9, with some areas, including virtually the entire state of Iowa, now having only one insurance company, with a strong risk of losing that.
Gruber replies, “Look, and whose fault is this?” It’s Gruber, Obama and the Democrats’ fault. Gruber or is that Grubber, crafted a doomed-to-fail crappy plan and shoved it upon the American people. Next question? He continued with the attempt to shift his blame to the new president, weakly and unbelievably arguing, “Before President Trump was elected there were no counties in America that did not have an insurer. Since President Trump has been elected…”
Wallace, who can’t believe the garbage that is pounding him in the eardrums, interrupts, saying, “Wait, wait, wait, wait – you’re going to blame the problems with Obamacare on President Trump?” Gruber continues, “We had a situation under Obamacare where there was a one-time premium increase last year, that made up for the fact that insurers massively underpriced in the first two years. The problem was fixed. Insurers profits were trending positively, insurers were saying positive things about their ability to stay in the exchanges and succeed.” A one-time fix is rarely one-time and in this case a fix was part of the multi-faceted bail out of medical welfare.
He continues crafting what may be the greatest work of fiction since “Dreams from the Front Guy for Frank Marshall Davis” saying, “Then you have a President who comes in, undercuts open enrollment, doesn’t honor the obligations this law makes to ensure us, and as a result premiums are going up and insurers are exiting.”
Gotcha Gruber, Obamacare was perfect and financially solvent, ticking away like a Swiss watch until January 20th.
Wallace switches to his other guest, Karl Rove, who has his white board and notes that the previous week Gruber was blaming the insurers for having “guessed wrong.” He said the government had actually told them to consider that they would get a lot more healthier, younger people than they actually got in any single year that the program has been in effect.
Rove continues, noting, “He said Trump stopped the ads. Trump stopped the ads on the 26th of January and the end of the enrollment period was the thirty-first. Really, the problems of Obamacare are going to be solved by four days of TV ads?” Rove points out, “He also said the executive order said not to enforce the individual mandate,” noting that Obama delayed the individual mandate for two years and the employer mandate for a year as well.
The fourth point that Rove makes is the Gruber contention that because President Trump talked about the cost-sharing payments, it caused distress among the insurance companies. He says, “Well the insurance companies are getting the cost-sharing payments despite the fact that last year a federal judge declared them illegal. President Trump said, ‘I’ll continue to pay them until the issue is resolved.'”
Rove closes making the point, “Last October Dr. Gruber said the program is working exactly as we designed it. Now it was designed, as he said earlier, with the stupidity of the American people built into their calculations of how to sell it, but it is a broken system and it’s going to go under.”
It’s not the American people who look stupid, Gruber, or who exposed themselves as frauds and liars.
