NYT Says Comey Asked DOJ To Call Trump A Liar On Wiretap Claims That Make FBI Look Bad

It’s not like we needed much proof beyond applying the most generous benefits of the doubt that James Comey is a self-serving coward. For most Americans he removed any trace of that possibility with his finger to the wind vacillations when he decided to ignore the mountain of evidence against Hillary Clinton and not prosecute. Many saw an obviously pre-determined outcome in the deal with the Marxist black supremacist Attorney General, Loretta Lynch.

The only saving grace that there might be something more honorable happening behind the scenes was his brief, ten day reopening of the case in the closing days of the election and the fact that President Trump kept him on, an endorsement of him. Most of us trusted the President’s judgment in that regard – if the NY Times Isn’t lying, that remnant of trust just vanished.

Comey has resisted requests by White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and others to simply tell the truth about the deluge of false allegations from the left and publicly refute the unsubstantiated claims of Democrats that there was collusion between the Trump campaign or White House and Russia.

Both Director Comey and Deputy Director McCabe contacted Priebus and told him there was no active investigation and no evidence indicating that one was warranted. Their refusal to go public with the truth due to policy reasons frustrated the White House, with Press Secretary Spicer saying, “I don’t know what else we were supposed to do. He addressed the conversation with Priebus, saying, “The chief of staff said, ‘well, you’ve put us in a very difficult situation, you’ve told us that a story that made some fairly significant accusations was not true. And now you want us to just sit out there.'”

But that policy can be easily broken if it’s a matter of someone or something making the FBI look bad in the same manner that Democrats lies are making the Trump administration look bad. Then it’s important and worth addressing. At least that is the situation if the reporting of the New York Times is to be believed. Then again, they print lies as often as the rest of us change our socks, so a certain amount of discretion in that regard needs to be factored into any evaluation.

According to the New York Times, “The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, asked the Justice Department this weekend to publicly reject President Trump’s assertion that President Barack Obama ordered the tapping of Mr. Trump’s phones, senior American officials said on Sunday. Mr. Comey has argued that the highly charged claim is false and must be corrected, they said, but the department has not released any such statement.”

Director Comey reportedly made the verbal request, which is only supported, once again by anonymous sources, for DOJ to refute the President’s allegations, because ” it falsely insinuates that the F.B.I. broke the law.” So it’s okay with the FBI to falsely insinuate that the President broke the law, but nobody had better make that same claim about them.

Nobody at either the FBI or DOJ would comment on the report and Attorney General Sessions, thanks to his errant decision to recuse himself, now is unable to do so.

Additionally, the New York Times reports there are concerns within the FBI that the idea there existing a court-approved wiretap will raise the public’s expectations that the federal authorities have significant evidence implicating the Trump campaign in colluding with Russia’s efforts to disrupt the presidential election.” That is something that also concerns the Trump administration, and the FBI’s continued refusal to state the truth against the barrage of leftist lies only aids them in undermining the Administration’s credibility.

Maybe Comey needs to get his finger out of the wind or wherever else he might have had it stuck lately and issue a truthful statement on the issues. It’s not like the Democrats don’t already hate his guts; in that regard he’s got little to lose. Or is he more concerned with exposing the lies of the CFR establishment propagandists of record at the New York Times, more concerned with their image, what they want than the lies against and the honor and reputation of the President?
