Intel Committee chairman Nunes addressed threats posed by China and has a recommendation on dealing with the enemies within at DOJ as well – Contempt and Impeachment…
Rep Devin Nunes, who comes from a farming background as a dairyman, addresses the topic of President Trump imposing tariffs on China and the retaliations they have threatened, saying that China is a big problem and that the House Intelligence Committee is involved in “investigating many aspects of China.” [[WATCH VIDEO BELOW]]
He states unequivocally that “China is in fact stealing our intellectual property, they’re spreading globally, they continue to manipulate currencies, so China has to be taken on.” He points out that “Every President has said they’re going to get tough on people who cheat on trade. This President is actually doing it,” saying as it happens we’re going to have to watch the markets and that every trade agreement is going to be negotiated.
He recommends not only looking at the imposition of tariffs but also at situations where they can be eliminated, specifically Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines as a means of opening markets and providing alternatives to China.
Bartiromo asks him about the investigation into China and when the details of that might be coming out. He says, “First and foremost we’re looking at the military footprint and potential military footprint that China is trying to put around the globe.”
He notes, “The Chinese just opened a military base in Djibouti. Djibouti’s at the entrance to the Red Sea in the heart of the Middle East in the Indian Ocean, a long way away from China. We believe that they are looking at investing in ports and infrastructure around the globe, not just for military capabilities but also to control those governments.”
He also points to their theft of intellectual property, particularly in technology, which they are pirating and “stealing Silicon Valley blind.”
On the issue of military expansion, in addition to the Djibouti base, China is continuing to deploy more submarines and have largely already taken over the South China Sea through the construction of landing strips and military installations on man-made islands, what Nunes describes as “stationary aircraft carriers.” Those facilities give them the potential to threaten almost two-thirds of global trade.
Nunes addresses the subpoena of documents issued by Rep Bob Goodlatte, House Judiciary Committee Chairman, and offers some advice based upon his own experience of being stonewalled by Jeff Sessions’ Justice Department in a cover up for Hillary Clinton and the deep state – “don’t wait.”
He says, ‘When we get back in two weeks, if the 1.2 million documents aren’t in the Capitol, then he should immediately move to hold Department of Justice and the FBI in contempt and if we have to vote on contempt then we should immediately move to impeach those officials. That would be using the full power of the Congress.”
He adds, “But we can’t wait. We’ve been listening for over a year and a half to the Democrats in this country scare the American people, that they have evidence of collusion with Russians which they don’t, they can’t prove it.” He says, “Congress is a separate branch of government. We created the Department of Justice, and the Congress needs those documents and they need them now, they need them yesterday.”
