Nunes reveals FBI Whistleblowers told the House Intel Committee in Sep 2016 of the Weiner laptop emails and that exposure forced Comey to reopen the Clinton…
House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes makes some significant revelations in his interview with Laura Ingraham following the release of the IG report. He opens by stating, “There was information that we got today, at eleven o’clock – twelve o’clock, that actually chairman Gowdy had to call and tell me what it was, text messages that we had been asking for since late last year.” [[WATCH VIDEO BELOW]]
He continues, “Now, these are text messages that clearly were pertinent to our investigation into FISA abuse, and to the Russia investigation, whether or not there was FISA abuse, whether or not there was collusion. These are emails or text messages that somebody held from us, so every day that goes by there is a new example of obstruction of a Congressional investigation.”
He asks why that information, the fact that a text message from Peter Strzok to Lisa Page was redacted, not for national security reasons but to cover up criminal wrongdoing and bias, and not provided to him until earlier in the day, at eleven or twelve o’clock. He says, “This is a classic case of obstruction but then the question is, who’s going to go investigate these guys?”
In typical bureaucratic double-speak, the IG wrote in his report that he couldn’t state “with confidence” that the decision by Peter Strzok to prematurely end the Clinton investigation, particularly as it related to a decision to ignore the damning evidence on the Weiner laptop, and switch over to an unfounded persecution of Donald Trump, was without bias.
Horowitz should have been able to state clearly at a minimum that there is an appearance of bias and his failure to do so calls his own objectivity into question. Nunes goes on to drop a huge bombshell that deserved more closer examination, that the Intelligence Committee had FBI whistleblowers who came to them late September of 2016 who told them of the existence of the Weiner laptop sitting in New York.
DOJ kept that hidden from them as did Comey and the FBI leadership. The fact that the Intelligence Committee knew and that Comey learned that they knew and that he his statements to them had been made false by the revelations were likely the motivation for Comey notifying Congress in October that the Clinton emails existed and the charade of hurriedly reading and examining them in the infamous ten day period, the October surprise of 2016.
Nunes points out that it’s emblematic of “the game that Comey and company have been playing, is that they hide behind this “top secret” classification.” He states his belief that those same people who made the calls back then are still thinking they can run the clock out on Congress so that they can’t finish their investigations and the Democrats in Congress will put a stop to the clean up once they’ve again got their filthy hands on the levers of power.
Nunes says the same crooks who believe they are not bound by the same rules as the common peasants, and who were routinely engaging in bribery and paid for criminally leaking information, remain in the power positions at the FBI. While he’s careful to exclude dirty cop Christopher Wray from the accusations, he then immediately illustrates the deception and obstruction that he and his committee have been dealing with, the constant battle created by the secretive FBI policies.
Nunes notes that despite the claims to the contrary by Wray in his statement following the release of the IG report, “It’s a little bit frustrating, because we’ve had these very conversations with him many months ago, where we said, ‘Look, you’re not responsible for any of this. You need to clean this up and we’ll support you in cleaning this up. But yet, here it is, today, we get this text message at noon today, one that’s absolutely pertinent to our investigation.”
He says, “If they didn’t give it to us it’s a problem, but if they didn’t know about it it’s an even bigger problem because who was obstructing the investigation.” Nunes is being diplomatic. Wray is a longtime friend of all of the swamp creatures involved in this, including Comey, Rosenstein and Mueller. He knows about everything. His job is not to clean out the corruption but to hide it. That’s really what Nunes is saying without making the accusation overtly.
President Trump needs to act, he needs to order that the information be released to Congress – period and without further delay. That’s the only way to clean up the mess and it’s more than a bit unnerving that all of this conflict could be eliminated so easily and yet Trump, for some reason, still refuses to order that it happen.
