Nunes responded to the deliberate obstruction by Rod Rosenstein and Christopher Wray with a threat and the preparation of a citation of Contempt of Congress, to be issued in
The Schumer appears to be hitting the fan at the House Intelligence Committee, to borrow a term from James Wesley Rawles, and its Chairman Devin Nunes is rightfully incensed over obstruction of justice by DOJ and the FBI.
The special prosecutor’s sham investigation into President Trump and the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax was presented by the chief inquisitor, Robert Mueller, as addressing “potential obstruction” within the Trump administration.
Ironically and hypocritically, it is they, along with current leadership in the FBI and DOJ, who are the corrupt political operatives engaged in that very same offense in acts of sedition against the American people and our nation, without consequences, on a daily basis.
There can no longer be any reasonable doubt that Attorney General Jeff Sessions is just as corrupt, just as much a swamp creature and just as much an enemy of the American people as Rod Rosenstein, James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Robert Mueller, Andrew Weissmann and Hillary Clinton.
Chairman Devin Nunes has issued an angry ultimatum AG Sessions and FBI Director Wray to explain their reasons for their months of obstructing the committee’s efforts to gain information, including the reason Mueller removed a key supervising FBI agent from the witch hunt.
According to information leaked to the Washington Post and the New York Times on Saturday, Peter Strzok, who played a key role in the initial FBI investigation into Trump, the sham investigation into Hillary Clinton and then was brought aboard Mueller’s inquisition, was secretly reassigned off of the hit squad. Repeated requests for an explanation never answered by the political hacks running DOJ or the FBI.
The stories written from the leaks in the two papers reveal that had exchanged anti-Trump texts with a top FBI lawyer, Lisa Page, a woman he was having an extramarital affair with. He was transferred to a low profile position in the FBI’s human resources office in July. According to the Washington Post, Page and Strzok exchanged text messages that “expressed anti-Trump sentiments and other comments that appeared to favor Clinton.”
Nunes was unaware of the texts as the direct result of the obstruction by DOJ and the FBI of a subpoenas issued on August 24th, more than three months ago, which sought information related to the “Trump dossier.”
In subsequent conversations discussing the scope of the subpoena, Intelligence Committee staff members made specifically stated that it included information on the events surrounding Strzok’s reassignment.
Byron York expanded on the timeline in the Washington Examiner, noting follow up discussions between Nunes and deputy attorney general Rod Rodentstein on October 11th, in which he specifically addressed the committee’s request for information about Strzok.
Over the course of the next two months the committee repeatedly sought cooperation and information from the FBI and DOJ and was ignored in every instance. A meeting took place on October 31st between committee staff and the FBI in which they outright refused the request for information.
On November 20th the committee issued another request to interview Strzok. On November 29th Nunes met with Rosenstein and again discussed Strzok and already this month, on December 1st had issued another interview request.
But rather than the corrupt cowards Sessions, Rosenstein, Wray or McCabe going on the record as to the reasons behind their obstruction and thereby admitting culpability and intent, the excuses were provided by the same leakers of the information.
They stated, through the Post, that “Among federal law enforcement officials, there is great concern that exposure of the texts they exchanged may be used by the president and his defenders to attack the credibility of the Mueller probe and the FBI more broadly.” The Times reported that “the existence of the text messages is likely to fuel claims by Mr. Trump that he is the target of a witch hunt.”
So the leakers are admitting not only through their actions that they are political operatives of the Obama shadow government targeting the President but that they continue to act in that role through the politically motivated obstruction of the House Intelligence Committee.
Chairman Nunes issued a statement in response on Saturday afternoon, writing, “By hiding from Congress, and from the American people, documented political bias by a key FBI head investigator for both the Russia collusion probe and the Clinton email investigation, the FBI and DOJ engaged in a willful attempt to thwart Congress’ constitutional oversight responsibility.”
Nunes continued, “This is part of a months-long pattern by the DOJ and FBI of stonewalling and obstructing this committee’s oversight work, particularly oversight of their use of the Steele dossier. At this point, these agencies should be investigating themselves.”
Suddenly, with the release of the information to the papers exposing their efforts to cover up and thwart the investigation by the House Intelligence Committee, the DOJ urgently wanted to cooperate in a “limited way” with Nunes’ committee, by providing some of the least damaging documents, in typical, redacted to the point of uselessness, form.
Nunes addressed that transparent DOJ effort to further obstruct efforts to get to the truth, saying, “The DOJ has now expressed — on a Saturday, just hours after the press reports on Strzok’s dismissal appeared — a sudden willingness to comply with some of the committee’s long-standing demands. This attempted 11th-hour accommodation is neither credible nor believable, and in fact is yet another example of the DOJ’s disingenuousness and obstruction.”
Nunes has now instructed his staff to draw up a Contempt of Congress citation for Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray, promising to act before the end of December if all of the committee’s outstanding demands are not met. Don’t forget about AG Sessions, Chairman, he’s up to his eyeballs in swamp muck just like the rest of them.
But beyond the potential of the contempt citations, what happens next? Are we going to see Eric Holder ll in Sessions thumbing his nose at the American people in the aftermath and Congress letting the issue die there or will we see impeachment or their arrest as a result, if it comes to that. Our experience with the corrupt US DOJ and FBI indicate that they’ll use every mechanism at their disposal to protect themselves from Nunes and revealing their crimes to the American people.
