In a post titled “Russian mission On Fundraising Letter from John McCain Election Campaign, 20 Oct 2008,” WikiLeaks published a letter from the Russian government to then-candidate for President John McCain, which may help to explain a least a small portion of his overwhelming animosity Senator McCain has for the Land of Lenin.
The text of the document is that of a rejection letter and nobody likes being rejected. It indicates that in the closing months of the 2008 campaign, on or about Sep 29th, Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin received a letter in which Senator McCain had sought financial backing from the Kremlin. Maybe George Soros was running a little low on funds at the time or just too busy to get involved. That was in the closing days before the financial meltdown so Soros was certainly a busy man. Perhaps he didn’t have time for amnesty Juan or his panhandling.
WikiLeaks shows that on October 20th, a statement from the Russian Federation to the United States was sent, which stated, “We have received a letter from Senator John McCain requesting financial contribution to his Presidential campaign.”
It continued, “In this connection we would like to reiterate that Russian officials, the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations or the Russian Government do not finance political activity in foreign countries.”
WikiLeaks vouched for the legitimacy of the document, saying just following the post, “WikiLeaks staff have verified the authenticity of the document. Obviously the statement is designed to undermine the McCain campaign and is an extremely interesting Russian intervention into US domestic politics. It remains to be seen whether the play, which lacks subtlety, will backfire and generate support for McCain.
So McCain had no problem with Russian interference on his behalf in 2008, which was solicited. But unsolicited and unknown activities by the Russians against a political outsider who had no involvement offends him. Is it because that outsider prefers heroes who haven’t been captured or crashed several airplanes?
So is McCain angry because he was turned down, because he never sent a request and was made to look like he had and been turned down or did he receive money but he had to make a deal in order to get it. The kind of thing he’s supposedly so incensed about which is alleged by his fellow Democrats, denied by intelligence agencies and reported as fact by the fake news networks?
WikiLeaks added, “According to the document metadata (which can be manipulated, though rarely is), the document was created by ‘INT10’, underwent two revisions and was saved by ‘INT9’ with a version of word is registered to organization ‘MID’. Although WikiLeaks normally removes metadata, we have not done so in this instance since the document is intended to be public and may be a significant political play by Russian intelligence.
