Authorities are reporting that 27 people have been killed by a lone gunman at a church in Sutherland Springs, a rural community just east of San Antonio, Texas. The assault occurred during services at the First Baptist Church, a congregation of roughly fifty or so worshipers.

BBC is reporting from conversations earlier with the local Sheriff, Joe Tackett, that there have been fatalities at the church and that the number of fatalities is now believed to stand at 27. Others were injured, including children. The gunman, as the Sheriff put it, had “been taken down.”

The BBC report indicates injured people were being airlifted from the scene. The citizen journalist, Erica Hernandez, reports that neighbors heard shooting and that there were periods of silence during which the gunman was apparently reloading. They also state that they “never saw anybody come out.”

Hernandez also says witnesses she spoke with saw a man in full tactical gear enter the Texas church and then flee in a vehicle afterwards. As she’s making that point she’s forced to move out of the scene so and her report stops. That statement conflicts with the comments reportedly made by Sheriff Tackett.

No motive or description of the murderer is presently available. At least 24 others were injured in the horrific shooting which began at 11.30 am when the man in full gear reportedly walked into the church and immediately opened fire. The Church Pastor, Frank Pomeroy, told ABC that his 14-year-old daughter was one of those killed. He said, she “was one very beautiful, special child.”

    Hey Rick,
I am Just Hearing Various Reports of the Shooting in Texas. Shooter Now Shot Dead etc, If It Turns Out this Shooter is a FKG Muslim Convert, Then Perhaps ITS “OPEN SEASON” on Muslims and Start Hitting Back. The Days of Muslim Terrorism only in Europe are Over. Welcome to the New Reality,
    Tnx,

  2. There has been no identification or description of the shooter yet, and would lead one to suspect it’s another one of those Amish folks.

If my guess is true then the only way we will ever have civil order is civil war. Doesn’t seem like anyone is interested in stopping these attacks. In Zimbabwe a girl was arrested and charged with sedition due to a tweet about the leader. Here we have removed that term from our lexicon.

  3. i feel so sorry for those lost souls.
and we can expect all the ANTI-GUNNERS SLOBBERING ALL OVER THEMSELVES CALLING FOR MORE GUN CONTROL.
but if JUST ONE PERSON would of had a FIREARM maybe that would’ve made the DIFFERENCE.
