With the election and Hillary Clinton now history, Loretta Lynch is not going to be keeping that Attorney General position she was promised if she just let Clinton off on her corruption. Lynch did her part but Clinton wasn’t able to seal the deal. Now she’s attempting to put the best face she can on her horrible lack of judgment and abuse of power.
Lynch said, “I do regret sitting down and having a conversation with him, because it did give people concern. And as I said, my greatest concern has always been making sure that people understand that the Department of Justice works in a way that is independent and looks at everybody equally,” Lynch said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“And when you do something that gives people a reason to think differently, that’s a problem. It was a problem for me. It was painful for me, and so I felt it was important to clarify it as quickly and as clearly and as cleanly as possible.”
She’s failing on both the clearly and the cleanly scores. Most folks believe she made a deal to benefit Clinton, the inconvenient timing and facts are making hers a hard argument to press. Tapper tries to soften the bumps in making the her claims that she is most concerned with people believing that DOJ is not fair and impartial. She says that was the reason why she attempted to give a quick response to the situation. A quick lie is no substitute for the truth.
Tapper said, “But certainly if Bill Clinton hadn’t gotten on the tarmac that time and gone to you, things might have been different. You would have had more say. You would have been able to control Comey more … It might have changed the letter that he gave at the end there.”
Lynch can’t bring herself to accept responsibility even though she’s talking about a quick admission. She says, “I don’t think it would have changed his view of what he had to say or not say to Congress.”
It’s okay, Lynch, we understand. You’ve said plenty.
