Judicial Watch is once again forced by an uncooperative AG Sessions to sue in order to get public information, this time the cost of his Mueller witch hunt to the American taxpayers…
As is usually the case with the obstructive and apparently corrupt Justice Department of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, transparency is a word that is only used to describe their windows, and most of them are one-way, mirror finished. Any request for information is ignored and forces a lawsuit.
One question that has yet to be asked or answered is how much money is Sessions wasting on attorneys fighting against the American people? How much time and money could be saved if he weren’t conducting the Justice Department in secret, like it and the FBI are branches of the CIA and the American people are their enemy?
This time Sessions is forcing Judicial Watch to sue for information as to the cost of the Mueller witch hunt and the budget of Robert Mueller. DOJ has not responded to a July 10, 2017 Judicial Watch request for information despite the fact that it’s our money. Now he’s going to spend more of our money trying to hide it from us. It’s our money, we should be able to know how much of it is being flushed down the toilet, and theoretically, doesn’t he still work for us?
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton noted, “The Mueller special counsel investigation is growing with seemingly little concern about costs to the taxpayer.” He asked, “Is the Justice Department hiding basic budget information about the Mueller special counsel operation because taxpayers and Congress would be outraged by the costs?”
Fitton observed, “Mr. Mueller is not above the law and he shouldn’t be able to keep his budget secret. No one else in D.C. seems to be providing oversight of the Mueller juggernaut, so once again it is up to the citizens group Judicial Watch to go to court and demand accountability.”
Judicial Watch is asking for:
- A copy of the budget prepared and submitted by Robert S. Mueller III or his staff in his capacity as appointed “Special Counsel to oversee the previously-confirmed FBI investigation of Russian government efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election and related matters.” Temporal scope of this request is from 17 May 2017 to 10 July 2017.
- A copy of all guidance memoranda and communications by which the Justice Management Division will review the Special Counsel’s Office’s “Statement of Expenditures” prior to or for the purpose of making each public. Temporal scope of this request is from 1 June 2017 to present.
- A copy of each document scoping, regulating, or governing the Special Counsel’s Office appointed under the leadership of Mueller III. Temporal scope of this request is from 17 May 2017 to present.
There’s nothing there that is an unreasonable request in any sense so why has Sessions refused to comply? Does he now think he is above the law? Does he have lawyers he needs to keep doing something so they won’t have to look into the Hillary Clinton case and he ties them up with expensive busy work against Americans? Is he part of the deep state swamp that was planted early inside the Trump campaign in case the “unthinkable” happened and he won?
Certainly he’s no longer on our side, if he ever was.
