Grassley Introduces Mandatory E-Verify Bill To Give Americans Their Jobs Back

The line at the border heading south may be forming soon once a bill introduced today by Senator Chuck Grassley is passed and signed by President Trump. The Accountability Through Electronic Verification Act, has been introduced before by Grassley, the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, but the odds of it becoming law are now, under the Trump administration and Republican majorities much better, although the sizable RINO population does still make it a challenge.

Senator Grassley’s made the following statement and provided the accompanying information on his Senate website.

“E-Verify has already proven to be a cost-free, successful tool for the companies that volunteer to use it. The program assists businesses that want to comply with immigration laws, safeguards opportunities for legal workers, and helps to reduce incentives for illegal entry into the United States.  Enhancing it and making it a staple in every workplace will help in holding businesses accountable. As Congress considers the re-authorization of E-Verify this year, this bill should be a starting point for discussion.”

Currently, employers voluntarily submit information reported on an employee’s Form I-9 to the Department of Homeland Security through the E-Verify system, which works in partnership with the Social Security Administration to determine worker eligibility.  There is no cost for employers to use E-Verify.

E-Verify was established in 1996 as a pilot program with employers in five states allowed to participate.  The pilot program was reauthorized in 2001, expanded to employers in every state in 2003 under Grassley-authored legislation, and reauthorized again in 2008, 2009 and 2012.  The program is due for re-authorization this year.

The Accountability Through Electronic Verification Act of 2015 does the following:

  • Permanently reauthorizes the E-Verify program that was created in 1996.
  • Makes the program mandatory for all employers within one year of date of enactment, requires federal contractors and agencies to use the program immediately, and directs “critical employers,” as identified by the Secretary of Homeland Security, to use the system within 30 days of designation.
  • Increases penalties for employers who illegally hire undocumented workers.
  • Reduces the liability that employers face if they participate in E-Verify when it involves the wrongful termination of an individual.
  • Allows employers to use E-Verify before a person is hired.
  • Requires employers to check the status of all current employees within 3 years.
  • Requires employers to terminate the employment of those found unauthorized to work due to a check through E-Verify.
  • Helps ensure that the Social Security Administration catches multiple uses of Social Security numbers by requiring them to develop algorithms to detect anomalies.
  • Establishes a demonstration project in a rural area or area without internet capabilities to assist small businesses in complying with the participation requirement.
  • Amends the criminal code to make clear that defendants who possess or otherwise use identity information not their own without lawful authority and in the commission of another felony is still punishable for aggravated identity fraud, regardless of the defendant’s “knowledge” of the victim.
  • Requires employers to re-verify an employee’s immigration status if the employment authorization is due to expire.

The Accountability Through Electronic Verification Act of 2015 is cosponsored by Senators Mike Lee, David Vitter, Mike Enzi, Deb Fischer, Bob Corker, Tom Cotton, Jim Inhofe, Jeff Sessions, Shelly Moore Capito, John Boozman, David Perdue, and Roger Wicker.

It’s worth noting that all of the cosponsoring Senators are Republicans, the party that wants, under the Trump administration to put Americans first, ahead of illegals stealing our jobs and social benefits.

  1. May I suggest you read some very thorough articles on E-verify and what it will do to those of us who are not illegal aliens?

I don’t know how I could make myself more clear…it is government control, not just for illegals but for everyone in America.

Check out Tom DeWeese’s articles on same, maybe you’ll understand rather than my giving you just pieces of this pie.

  2. EVERY STATE that has photo ID to vote is far better off…I wish it was a federal law.

  3. I have never said that Rick’s reporting wasn’t good, it’s why I signed up for it. We are on the same side, but I’m just trying to get y’all to see that E-Verify is not a good thing for those of us who were born in America. And why it’s not a good thing.

If I can’t disagree without someone thinking I don’t like the host of the site, then I might as well be on a leftist site. I’m sure Rick wants all views to be aired, I’ve never seen him turn anyone away that may have disagreed, other than the nutters from the left who spew vile.

    • Ms. Nelson: although you have done some interesting research into Tanton and friends, I disagree with your conclusion.

E-verify is a good tool for use by employers to see if prospective employees are legal residents of the U.S. It is simple, fast and easy to use. It matches prospective employee information (Form I-9) to data from U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Social Security Administration records to confirm employment eligibility. The system does not collect employee information and it does not advance white nationalism, as you suggest. It simply alerts the employer that the applicant may not be a legal resident and needs to be further investigated before hiring. Nothing more and nothing less. Very simple.

Although the system probably complements the objectives of Numbers USA, it was not built by Numbers USA and has no direct or indirect association. Nor does it have any association with John Tanton and friends. I am one of those you speak of when you state: “I’m sorry that none of you understand what E-Verify will do to American citizens.” I cannot see where E-Verify can do anything to American Citizens. What am I missing?

Regarding your statement: “EVERY STATE that has photo ID to vote is far better off…I wish it was a federal law.”, we are again in disagreement. There is at least one large state where illegals can get a driver’s license which can be used as a photo id. It can also be used to get registered to vote. So, the existence of a photo id has no positive value at all. Conversely, a well designed photo id system could be very valuable, but I don’t see how it would overcome the same objections that you have to E-Verify.

I’ve read your posts above a few times and I still cannot discern what it is you are claiming.

  4. Senator Grassley is one of the few if any other congressmen who have been there long term that I would consider keeping in office. He has long fought to stop Medicare fraud.

  5. I’m sorry that none of you understand what E-Verify will do to American citizens. Do you even understand who is promoting E-verify? The Big one is Numbers USA…but do you know who owns Numbers?

Look, Goals 2000 is in place, School to Work is in place, Secondary Elementary Education Act is in place, and ALL THAT IS LEFT IS THE GLOBAL WORKFORCE! How would you like to go through the government data base for employment? This is what E-Verify does, for everyone! Read Marc Tucker’s letter to Hillary.

All that is left to finish their agenda is the workforce and they will hide that in “inconspicuous legislation.” What a more perfect place than illegal legislation.

To top it off, most of the anti-illegal organizations were founded by John Tanton. Here is a list of his network, and please notice population control and eugenics. John Tanton M.D. is “publisher of The Social Contract and served as editor for its first 8 years. He is a retired eye surgeon whose boyhood on a farm made him into an ardent conservationist and advocate for the environment.
His conviction that continued human population growth was a large part of the conservation problem led him to chair the National Sierra Club Population Committee (1971-74), and to the national board of Zero Population Growth (1973-78, including a term as president, 1975-77). In 1979, Tanton shifted his focus towards fighting immigration to reduce the U.S. population, and organized the anti-immigrant Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) based in Washington, D.C. Since then, Tanton has formed, funded, or otherwise been affiliated with many prominent anti-immigration organizations, in what has been termed the John Tanton Network. He is also closely affiliated with a number of white supremacist organizations such as the Pioneer Fund. Tanton’s close relationships with white nationalists and eugenics is documented at the Center for New Community.
Many conservatives are familiar with Roy Beck from Numbers USA. Roy Beck is the heir apparent to John Tanton’s network. Numbers USA has maintained a number of questionable contacts, such as the brazen Holocaust denier Jim Rizoli, who was listed as the group’s state contact for Massachusetts in early 2011. In its 2009 video, “Immigration 103—American Trauma: Jobs and the Economy,” Numbers USA featured the testimony of Roan Garcia-Quintana, a board member of the white nationalist organization, Council of Conservative Citizens. At a CofCC national conference, Garcia-Quintana stated, “There are three types of people in the world: Negroids, Mongroids, and Caucasians.”

From 1977 to 1981, columnist Samuel T. Francis was a policy analyst at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., specializing in foreign affairs, terrorism, and intelligence and internal security issues. Francis also wrote the Council of Conservative Citizens’ platform, the “Statement of Principles.” Francis was editor of the Citizens Informer quarterly newsletter (published by the Council of Conservative Citizens) and an editor of The Occidental Quarterly, a white nationalist journal edited by Kevin Lamb and sponsored by William Regnery II.

Roy Beck’s writings have appeared on the anti-immigrant blog VDARE was founded by the white nationalist, Peter Brimelow, and regularly features anti-Semitic, homophobic, and flagrantly racist authors and articles. VDARE has long allowed Tanton personnel to bridge the gap between the more concealed bigotry of their anti-immigrant project and their explicit white nationalist tendencies.

Tanton’s organization, NUMBERS USA is the Tanton organization that is wholly responsible for pushing E-Verify. It is not that Numbers USA or FAIR or any of the other Tanton organizations are truly against immigration…what they are against is population increase. Tanton and his organizations want to restrict population, and that includes all of us, not just immigrants.

Before one agrees that something like E-Verify is good for America, one truly needs to research the core..and the core in this case is totally rotten, and it will affect every single American born citizen, not just illegal immigrants.

I highly doubt anyone will read this, but the truth needs to be written.

  6. wHY are you promoting this garbage Rick…read what I sent you…this is a data base for all Americans who will have to go through the govt. to get a job. We don’t want this, it’s control…wake up

    • everything has the potential for abuse, in its current form I’m not concerned and prefer it to illegals taking our jobs, destroying wages. There’s got to be a way to enforce employer sanctions or they’ll continue to give away the middle class to foreign invaders. We’re already in that database and provide new info annually with our tax returns.

      • Rick, I think your reporting and commentary are exceptional. And, regarding this particular matter, I know that every illegal that gets hired because of non-enforcement is equal to excluding a citizen from a job. Our employers need to keep illegals off their payrolls. If Ms. Nelson has a better way to achieve the result, let her present it. I’ve never heard her speak of anything but negative criticism. Never a positive contribution.

  7. Over 600,000 employers are using the e-verify system now, with no ill-effects.

  8. E-Verify is NOT A GOOD THING. Do you want every American to have to go through the government data base to get a job? I surely don’t. It would be great if you would read this fabulous article by Tom DeWeese.
E-Verify and the Emerging Surveillance State
E-Verify is a Threat to Liberty
Please take the time to understand that another government program that is all about control is not a good thing.
It is interesting to note that the DHS ordered specific changes to the E-Verify system to include biometric information and the use of enhanced photographs that measure and analyze the unique identifiable characteristics of a person’s face into a numeric code, usable and in compliance with these international databases. That identifying facial number code is read by a computer and can track your face by cameras worldwide. In addition, DHS has expanded the number of data bases used by E-Verify to check on employees. Obviously DHS understands that E-Verify is to be used in that international system.

“FOOLS welcome Illegal Invaders, Anti-Americans, Marxists & Political Corruption. Wise & Understanding People welcome E-Verify, Law & Order, Jobs, and a Sovereign Nation!” Life-long American Citizen.

    • Don’t forget to add photo ID to vote in all future elections! We need to prevent multiple, and otherwise illegal voting (dead people, etc.).

  10. can it be forced for any future employer of o’bama to use e-verify (which he FAILS)?
