Grassley, Graham Push FBI To Remove Redactions, Prosecute Dossier Author

Sen Grassley, like all Republicans attempting to get to the bottom of what the criminals in the Obama regime, is frustrated by the obstructionism at the FBI. He and Graham want…

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Judiciary Committee is pressing the FBI for “approval” for him to make more details of an unclassified criminal referral against Fusion GPS dossier author, Christopher Steele.

Grassley and Sen Lindsey Graham released a heavily redacted version of the referral asking DOJ to investigate, to the degree that they still legitimately conduct such efforts, as to whether or not Steele lied to the FBI about his interactions with the media.

The referral effectively calls Steele a liar in his interviews, in addition to the false dossier he prepared as the premise for the “Get Trump” witch hunt, stating, “There is substantial evidence suggesting that Mr. Steele materially misled the FBI about a key aspect of his dossier efforts, one which bears on his credibility.”

A Grassley spokesman said the redacted portions of the referral contain “verbatim quotes” from government surveillance warrant applications that include “the government’s description of Steele’s statements to the FBI about his contacts with the media.”

It is those same warrant applications that were referenced in the Nunes memo released on Friday. They are now arguing that the classification of the referral needs to be similarly updated and the redactions removed.

The FBI had resisted the release of even the redacted version of the referral being made public, as they know where the revelations in the matter will eventually lead, to their own dirty house. They agreed after President Trump declassified the Intelligence Committee’s memo. Now there is no plausible argument for them to object to the redactions being removed.

A somewhat frustrated Grassley stated, “Seeking transparency and cooperation should not be this challenging. The government should not be blotting out information that it admits isn’t secret, and it should not take dramatic steps by Congress and the White House to get answers that the American people are demanding.”

The Nunes memo raised concerns about Steele’s communications with mainstream propagandists, stating, “Steele was suspended and then terminated as an FBI source for what the FBI defines as the most serious of violation — an unauthorized disclosure to the media of his relationship with the FBI in an October 30, 2016 Mother Jones article by David Corn.”

It continues, “Steele should have been terminated for his previous undisclosed contacts with Yahoo and other outlets in September — before the Page application was submitted to the [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court] in October — but Steele improperly concealed from and lied to the FBI about those contacts.”

It’s going to be difficult of the dubious FBI obstructionists to argue against the removal of the redactions and prosecuting Steele with a determination from the Intelligence Committee that he lied to the FBI now part of their report, exposing that the FBI itself had made a similar determination.
