Rep Matt Gaetz describes how corruption permeates every aspect of the federal govt, both houses of Congress, DOJ, plus much of the executive branch. Trump’s getting no help…
Asked about President Trump’s decision to deploy National Guard troops to the border, Rep Matt Gaetz says, “I’m glad that the President is a man of action even when the Congress has abandoned this President on the critical promise to secure our border.”
Gaetz says, “We should have funded the wall in the major legislation we were passing. The Senate should take up and immediately take a vote on the wall but they’re too gutless to even do that. And so the consequence is that people see that the United States isn’t that serious about border security and that invites people across our borders illegally.” [[WATCH VIDEO BELOW]]
He continues, “We need to shut down entitlements for illegal aliens, we need to have E-verify, we need to build a wall and we need to support a President who is determined to take action on this issue on behalf of the American people.”
Dobbs says, “I think most people are absolutely shocked that the leadership of the House, Paul Ryan specifically, and Mitch McConnell in the Senate, that they both basically said to the President, we’re going to insult you at will, we’re not going to give you a dollar for the wall…and we’ll also reduce the number of ICE agents, since you asked for more, to secure the illegal immigration internally to the United States.”
He asks Rep Gaetz, “How can that be, that a Republican leadership in both houses can be that feckless and that disloyal to a President who won for the Party and, by the way, won for a lot of Congressmen and a lot of Senators?” Gaetz defends the House to the degree that they passed $20 billion for a border wall early in his administration and the Senate refused to even vote on it.
He says that their sin was “when the rubber met the road” in funding the government, they “handed the keys to Chuck Schumer. What you just described was the Chuck Schumer legislation and he had all the power. We won the last election. It’s time to start acting like it or we’re not going to win the next election.”
“Look,” says Gaetz, “this wasn’t an election about DACA. If it was, Hillary Clinton would have won it. This was an election about border security and we’ve got to put resources in the game, we’ve got to have skin in the game, and most importantly, when there is a caravan of people headed to the United States to commit the crime of illegal border crossing, we’ve got to get serious.”
Dobbs switches gears slightly, asking about the “super-secret” expansion of the already vague and illegal abuse of power that is the “authorization” for Mueller to investigate anything at anytime, no matter how distant it is from collusion and the Trump campaign.
Gaetz replies that he’s “on the Judiciary Committee and I cannot tell you what the four corners of the Mueller investigation are because Mr. Rosenstein and the other deep state swamp creatures at the Department of Justice haven’t even been honest with the Congress about the [boundaries] of this investigation.”
He says Congress has to “play a far stronger role in exposing the hypocrisy at the Department of Justice, with no evidence of collusion, with no evidence of any crime whatsoever, they unleashed Bob Mueller to go investigate things that happened before Donald Trump was even contemplating running for President.”
Gaetz notes, “Meanwhile, when it’s the Department of Justice’s own conduct, when it’s Rod Rosenstein’s conduct that is in question, they go and hire one of their own employees [US Attorney John Huber], to investigate themselves. That is ludicrous.”
He argues there’s no way that the Justice Department can investigate themselves, a second special counsel is critical, and right now, “The inmates are running the asylum.” One might argue he meant to say “penitentiary.”
