Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ), who has been a voice of reason and a vocal supporter of President Trump, announced on Thursday he was resigning from the House of Representatives due to the current climate in the swamp and the nation.
He stated that although he didn’t harass anyone, he wanted to avoid the smears and distortions that would surely follow revelations of statements he made regarding surrogate motherhood. It’s likely the snowflakes making the complaints saw dollar signs in the current environment and wanted to get a payout while the getting was good.
Rep Franks said he learned that the House Ethics Committee was reviewing complaints made against him regarding discussion he had had with two female aides. He said it simply wasn’t worth going through an investigation and opted instead vacate his seat.
Franks said, “We are in an unusual moment in history – there is a collective focus on a very important problem of justice and sexual impropriety. It is so important that we get this right for everyone, especially for victims.
But in the midst of this current cultural and media climate, I am deeply convinced I would be unable to complete a fair House Ethics investigation before distorted and sensationalized versions of this story would put me, my family, my staff, and my noble colleagues in the House of Representatives through hyperbolized public excoriation.
He stressed that he had never inappropriately touched or molested any staffer and that is not the nature of the investigation. Franks noted that he and his wife have twins which were made possible through the use of a surrogate. He says he now understands that the discussions of the process had made the female staffers “uncomfortable.”
Franks said, “Given the nature of numerous allegations and reports across America in recent weeks, I want to first make one thing completely clear. I have absolutely never physically intimidated, coerced, or had, or attempted to have, any sexual contact with any member of my congressional staff.”
He continued, “However, I do want to take full and personal responsibility for the ways I have broached a topic that, unbeknownst to me until very recently, made certain individuals uncomfortable. And so, I want to shed light on how those conversations came about.”
We lose a good guy as part of the collateral damage from the scumbags on the left being busted for their abuse of staffers and the Democrats get a name to use in their own defense as being on par with their offenses.
Franks probably did what was best for his family but it’s unfortunate for the rest of the country. He is undoubtedly relieved to be out of the swamp and heading back home to Arizona.
