Sen Cotton calls out Senate Dems, particularly those on the Foreign Relations Committee, for playing politics, using the Pompeo nomination as a tool to attack Trump…
Margaret Brennan asks her guest, Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR), about the nomination of CIA Director Mike Pompeo to replace outgoing globalist Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State and the Democrat opposition to his confirmation.
She quotes the ethically challenged New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez as saying he doesn’t know which Mike Pompeo to believe, “A Congressman who advocated for striking Iran and North Korea and criticized the diplomatic deals there, or the one who now says he wants to preserve the nuclear deal with Iran and negotiate with North Korea.” She asks, “Is this driven by politics or a change of conviction?”
Cotton replies to the question as it relates to Democrat opposition and their typical obstructionism, saying, “It’s driven 100% by politics, Margaret.” He clarifies for her, since there was confusion in the response, that Mike Pompeo has not changed his position, that he’s committed to diplomatic solutions everywhere.
Cotton says, “The difference between Mike Pompeo and a lot of those Democrats or the previous Secretaries of State is that Mike Pompeo recognizes that the credible threat of military force is essential to getting diplomatic solutions.”
Brennan injects, “But he opposed the Iran nuclear deal and he said in his testimony now he wants to preserve it.” Cotton replies, “Opposing the Iran nuclear deal doesn’t mean that you’re opposed to diplomatic solutions. It means you’re opposed to bad diplomatic solutions.”
He reminds her that ultimately it is the President’s decision, that “Mike Pompeo will conduct foreign policy on behalf of the President. But as he said at his testimony, it’s the President who will make that decision.”
He then tears into the globalists, saying, “But the Democrats, especially those on the Foreign Relations Committee, are really engaged in shameful political behavior. Fifteen of them voted for Mike Pompeo last year to be the director of the CIA, not a single one of them, to my knowledge, has said that he’s done a bad job.”
Brennan runs interference for her Democrat comrades, saying, “But it’s a very different job from being America’s top diplomat and credibly negotiating, which is why they get to this fundamental question.” She actually says that following the Clinton-Kerry “negotiate by what’s in it for me.” Against that standard anyone is an improvement and Democrats have no leg to stand on when it comes to challenging an honest pro-America leader for the position.
Cotton cuts through that nonsense, reminding Brennan, “And as Director Pompeo said at his testimony, he is committed to those diplomatic solutions. But ultimately the Secretary of State is conducting diplomacy on behalf of the President. Most of these Democrats don’t have a problem with Mike Pompeo, they are still struggling to get over the election of Donald Trump in 2016.”
He also points out that those facing elections this year are afraid of bucking the Soros Moveon.org and Code Pink crowd, and slaves to their campaign dollars.
He says, “It’s really shameful behavior.” That’s why they’re Democrats, because they have no shame and no love of country to hinder their profiteering and service to those globalists who seek our destruction.
