Chaffetz – Sessions, Wray Cover Up Continues – Goodlatte Subpoena Is Not A “Request”

Chaffetz has a history of butting heads with obstructionists at the FBI and DOJ, noting that Sessions is no different than Lynch or Holder when it comes to cover ups. A subpoena…

With the issuance of a subpoena for documents which have been obstructed and withheld by the cover up operatives at the DOJ and FBI, FBI Director Christopher Wray has issued a statement telling Rep Bob Goodlatte that he agrees things are moving too slow and it’s just too damn bad if he doesn’t like it.   [[WATCH VIDEO BELOW]]

Of course Wray pretended to be doing the opposite, of suddenly realizing that for years they’ve been obstructing Congress and that the skeleton, ridiculously small number of people assigned to the mountains of requests for information is unable to keep up. He’s going to double the staffing levels to a likewise ridiculously small number of people, who will still be unable to meet demands, in a theatrical political stunt.

Bill Hemmer asks Jason Chaffetz, former chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, if the FBI was dragging its feet in the past and if they’re dragging their feet now. Chaffetz replies that the answer to both is yes, saying, “Yeah, I think it’s absolutely pathetic. The FBI put out a statement saying they are looking at this request. A request? It’s a subpoena.”

He asks, “I mean if you got on the receiving end of a subpoena do you think that’s just a request or do you have to comply? The reality is that I issued a subpoena as the chairman of the Oversight Committee in September of 2016. You have Devin Nunes, the Intel Committee, that was looking at this in August of 2017 and had to issue a subpoena. Bob Goodlatte has now issued a subpoena in 2018 and they’re just getting geared up to add a few more people? That is ridiculous.”

Hemmer says there are two explanations for why it is not a priority. Either it’s not urgent to them or perhaps they’re trying to keep something from Congress. Chaffetz replies, “They are absolutely obstructionists. And I’m sorry, but Attorney General Sessions – I don’t see much of a difference between him and Loretta Lynch and Eric Holder. I mean, what’s the difference?”

Chaffetz says, “When you issue a subpoena from Congress it’s just a suggestion? It’s just a request, there’s no urgency that you have to hit it by the deadline? I mean Congress refuses to stand up for themselves. They ought to be calling those people up. They ought to be putting them in front of Congress raising their hand, having the Attorney General testify as to why they’re not doing it.”

Chaffetz alludes to the fact that all of these scumbags have been in front of Congress testifying, lying and obstructing on numerous times, some of them when he was still a member. He says, “They ought to hold them in contempt. Until they get serious about it the Department of Justice is just going to blow it off. They have for years and they’re doing it now.”

He continues, “There is no semblance of a coequal branch of government. And from the Speaker to Sen Grassley to Mitch McConnell, where are they on all of this? Lindsey Graham, I mean at what point does he get fired up and say, ‘You know what? These are not requests. These are documents that you must produce.'”

  1. I guess the FBI still doesnt get the American people have no respect for them. They ca play their games and the people of this country will spit on them going forward . What shame.that is their reputation

  2. It seems like FOX is the retirement home for useless politicians. A subpoena, about every 6+ months, looks like the time frame before the dog and pony show needs rebooting.

I’m wondering if this is nothing more than free campaign ads for the establishment. I can’t wait for them to tell us what needs to be done, one more time, at least.
