Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, responds to a question from Jake Tapper about the Obama proclamation that there will be no deployment of U.S. ground troops in the war against ISIS.
Senator Inhofe says, “The ‘president’ is just flat not telling the truth, we already have boots on the ground there, he knows we’re going to have to have boots on the ground.
Let’s just go ahead and face it and admit we’re in a war.” He reminds us that you don’t win a war unless you’re out there fighting. Inhofe noted that General Dempsey answered that we would have troops to recover any potential aviators shot down in the conduct of air campaigns.
He says, “I think he made it very clear that the ‘president’ is just making that statement for political purposes.” Senator Inhofe asked in his opening statement today what a defeated or destroyed ISIS looked like to the administration and failed to get a satisfactory answer.
He says he would have liked to have heard something along the lines of “complete annihilation,” not getting as direct of an answer as he would have liked. Senator Inhofe points out how the deceptive and devious nature of the Obama regime requires that Congress always analyze his requests for funding with a fine-tooth comb, looking for funding for his agenda items.
Inhofe puts it bluntly saying, “I just don’t trust him to come out and say this specifically is what it’s for. That is what we are supposed to be doing on the Senate Armed Services Committee.”
Inhofe adds, “Look, here’s the problem with the ‘president.’ He doesn’t have a strategy. He has never had a strategy in the Middle East; he doesn’t have a strategy on ISIS. You’ve got to have a strategy as to what you are going to try to do.
