Rep Trey Gowdy notes that his committee has received three times the emails from Clinton associate Sidney Blumenthal as they have from either Hillary Clinton or the State Department.
He also notes some curious content, one which bizarrely instructed Clinton on how to “take credit” for the events in Libya.
He also points out that Blumenthal had no idea what was in the memos he was forwarding, that he’s never been to Libya and knew nothing about the country. He was merely acting as a conduit for Hillary Clinton from third party.
He calls into question the Clinton statement that the emails were unsolicited due to the exchanges which included her instructing Blumenthal to “keep em coming, this is good stuff, this is useful information.”
Gowdy mentioned some 2012 observations that Blumenthal made that the committee found “instructive,” without elaborating.
Gowdy clearly believes there’s something amiss with the passing of emails through Blumenthal rather than directly by the author. He also finds it odd that in spite of having an entire intelligence apparatus at her disposal in the CIA, she engaged in this off-the-record correspondence and intelligence.
