A Federal government initiative called “Operation Choke Point” is engaged in mafia-style infringement of the basic freedom to conduct completely legitimate commerce on the part of those businesses engaged in endeavors which are not in keeping with the Obama regime’s political views. Topping the target list are gun and ammunition vendors.

The list of targets is a long one, including ammunition sales, coin dealers, credit repair services, debt consolidation companies, dating services, drug paraphernalia, escort services, firearm sales, government grants, home-based charities, life-time guarantees, lottery sales, money transfer networks, payday loans, online gambling, pharmaceutical sales, pornography, ponzi schemes, pyramid-type sales, racist materials, travel clubs, tobacco sales, telemarketing, surveillance equipment and travel clubs.

Andrew Langer, of the Institute for Liberty detailed the way the US Department of Justice uses its power to stifle the free enterprise rights of businesses in these categories, writing in the Daily Caller:

The inter-agency group selects an industry target, let’s say, an at-home business that sells cosmetics. Agents working on Operation Choke Point then contact the financial institutions where these entrepreneurs both have their bank accounts and process their payments, informing them that the federal government considers this industry “risky” and potentially “fraudulent.” The government then “encourages” these financial institutions to cease doing business with individuals within that industry, which are mostly independent small business owners. If the financial institution does not cease doing business with them, then the full weight of federal regulatory power (DOJ, Treasury, FDIC, CFPB) will be brought to bear on the bank or payment processor.

Not wanting to be buried under red tape, these financial institutions then close bank accounts and refuse to process credit card payments for the business even if no impropriety has ever been alleged by any agency or legal entity. The end result is that the flow of cash to and from these businesses is “choked off” and the business dies. Whole industries can be destroyed using this method.

There appears to be an effort underway to deliberately group legitimate gun and ammo businesses with some other marginal or predatory types of businesses in order to have a third party do the infringement of the second amendment on behalf of the federal government.

Including firearms and ammunition sales in with what are considered by many to be less upstanding types of businesses also works to further demonize and tarnish those who value the Second Amendment.

Strong-arm tactics such as this are an abuse of power by this agenda-driven rogue government. It is also possible that these other business classifications could well be collateral damage in an effort to provide the appearance of legitimacy for their true objective, an attack on the second amendment and the disarmament of the American people.

A right to bear arms includes a right to obtain both the weapon and the ammunition. These banks and payment processors, by responding in this manner are, regardless of their motivations, negatively impacting that right.

It’s business as usual for the creative criminals at the Department of Justice, under Attorney General Eric Holder. The full frontal assault on the United States Constitution and the formerly free American people continues.
