There’s another word used to describe what Jonathan Turley calls a “Government of One” that Hussein Obama is building, it’s a dictatorship.
Megyn Kelly’s guest is a real constitutional attorney and professor, not the pretend, lecturer type of substitute teacher that Hussein Obama was. She asks him if Obama is about to violate the separation of powers if he goes through with his amnesty scheme.
Turley says that without having seen the details of what is coming, what he is hearing causes great concern that Obama will again violate the separation of powers. He reminds us that the Supreme has already ruled that Obama violated the separation of powers once and they have another case that they just agreed to hear a week ago which makes similar charges in relation to obamacare.
Turley says they raise the same profile, that Obama expresses a frustration with the speed of ability to work within the framework of the Constitution as a justification for overstepping the bounds of his authority.
Turley says it’s a very sad moment that is becoming a particularly dangerous moment if Obama goes forward, particularly after this election, to defy the will of Congress. While Obama may disagree with the outcome of the last election, he still must respect the voice of the people. That lack of willingness to do so tears at the fabric of the Constitution.
Professor Turley says, “We have a separation of powers that gives us balance and that doesn’t protect the branches, it’s not there to protect the executive branch or the legislative branch. It’s to protect liberty. It’s to keep any branch from assuming so much control that they become a threat to liberty.”
He also says he tells many of his Democrat friends that they will rue the day they helped to create this uber presidency, which is reaching a very dangerous point. He reminds them that, “This will not be our last ‘president’ and you may not agree with the next one, but what the Democrats are creating is something very, very dangerous. They’re creating a president who can go it alone.” That is something the framers sought to avoid in the construction of our Constitution.
He says the Republicans need to use every resource that is available to fight Obama and though he has made a mockery of the power of the purse, it is very difficult to use appropriations to control a rogue president. He also described this as an unprecedented act, muting claims that other “presidents” have acted in a similar manner. Nothing like this has ever happened in the history of our republic.
